FIE Supports Ukraine

On March 1, 2022, the FIE Executive Committee announced that it will comply with the IOC recommendation to cancel all international tournaments in Russia and Belarus. On March 2, 2022, the FIE Executive Committee announced that it will ban all Russian and Belarussian athletes from international tournaments until further notice.

Alisher Usmanov has publicly announced that he will suspend himself from all duties as President of the FIE with effect from March 1, 2022. Usmanov is one of several Russian oligarchs who have been sanctioned by the European Union following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
