My name is Scott Webb and I’m running as a Board of Director candidate at large for USA Fencing. As your board member, I’ll bring my global professional risk management, business development experience, passion for fencing, and commitment to serve and grow the fencing community. My strategic pillars are centered on three focus areas: EMBRACE, ENERGIZE and ENGAGE.
The financial and physical well-being of USA Fencing, Clubs, Parents and our Athletes has never been more important. As your Board Member, I plan to work closely with USA Fencing with the establishment of a Corporate Sponsorship Committee to further develop the national corporate and community sponsorship cultivation and development efforts. In addition, this level of support needs to be extended to our local Clubs so that they too can either further develop their local Club Corporate Sponsorship Program and our initiate. I’m confident that I can lead this sponsorship effort and make a significant impact as your USA Fencing Board Member.
I’m also well aware as a parent of a USA Fencing athlete of the tremendous financial commitment we all make to support the development of our athletes. To this point, I believe we need to review our National Point system to ensure that our athletes have an equitable opportunity to reach their fullest potential as a fencer. Today, the annual cost of training, travel both domestically and internationally, fees and required tournaments does not make it possible for the majority of parents and their athletes. This has to change.
Finally, we must work tirelessly on reaching out across all social and economic boundaries so that fencing can be attainable to all. When we drive additional corporate sponsorship dollars for both USA Fencing and our Clubs, we are then able to offer truly impactful and sustainable financial scholarships for training and travel for current and future Fencing Olympians
My passion for USA Fencing and commitment as your candidate for the Board of Directors can be summed up in my three strategic areas of focus: EMBRACE, ENERGIZE and ENGAGE. I plan to conduct a USA Fencing Board Member Town Hall shortly after the start of the USA Fencing Election on May 6th so that I can further discuss why I’m running for this MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION and answer your questions.
