US Fencing introduces the International Regional Circuit (IRC)
US Fencing has introduced the International Regional Circuit (IRC) to enable fencers living outside the United States to qualify for Junior and Cadet events at the July Challenge, and youth (Y10, Y12, Y14) events at the March NAC effective for the 2018/2019 fencing season.
The pilot IRC tournament will be held in Hong Kong from December 30, 2018 to January 1, 2019, with a second IRC to be held in Asia at a yet to be determined location. The tournament will be open to fencers from all countries, including the United States. Fencers must comply with US Fencing’s age requirements for all events.
US Fencing will launch the International Regional Points Standing for Junior and Cadet fencers. The top 32 on the International Regional List will qualify to compete in Junior and Cadet events at the July Challenge, provided they meet age requirements.
For youth fencers, participation in the youth events at an IRC tournament will be deemed sufficient to meet the pre-requisite of fencing in, at least one RYC, for Y10 and Y12 fencers in order to compete at the March NAC.
Registration for the IRC in Hong Kong is currently open, and fencers may register online with US Fencing HERE.
