Wait Till December for NAC Indicative Check-In Times!

FP has been assured by US Fencing leadership that the organization wants to solve the challenge of providing indicative check-in times early enough so fencing families can make advance work and school plans and book reasonably priced airfares. However, FP has been told that the US Fencing National Office is currently severely resource constrained and cannot solve the issue in time to help fencing families with indicative check-in times for the October NAC.

Without a November NAC this year, US Fencing will most likely have the space to apply imagination and creativity towards finding a solution to enable the early release of indicative check-in times for the December NAC.

FP has pushed this issue hard with US Fencing in the last week.

We have emphasized to US Fencing, using illustrations, that its current advisory that “fencers fly to the NAC the day before the event and plan to fly out the day after” is a poor rule of thumb and impractical since it forces fencers to unnecessarily miss school days (even in the face of objections from their schools) and parents to miss work days plus it imposes the cost of additional hotel room nights on fencing families. This rule of thumb might make life easier for US Fencing, but it forces fencing families to pay for it.

We will keep track when registration for the December NAC opens.
